I had a terrible experience with this lender. They do not speak internally with each other and expect the customer to fill in everyone while they don't bother reviewing your file. The mortgage officer called me constantly when I told him there was nothing to report and then when I did have a question he asked me for my number even though he calls me two times per week. They tried to bully me into signing their disclosure documents. I didn't have the paperwork in my possession for 24 hours and they called the sellers and told them that because I hadn't signed the document yet that they were closing my file and not having further contact with me. My sellers were in the middle of moving to California when they got this call. The sellers and listing agent were so put off by this that they granted me an additional week to closing to find another lender. No one from the team bothered to inform me that they were making this call and I had to hear about it from the sellers. This is completely unprofessional and shady. I will absolutely not recommend anyone to this company and I really hope they learn from this experience. I am an amazing borrower with great credit and get all my documents in quickly. They only worry about making a quick buck and not about the customer and thats really sad.

Daniel Henson helped me and my husband find a great rate and handles our refinancing with ease. To be honest it was the smoothest refinancing we have ever had. He was always there when we had a question he was so personal. He is prob one of the best banking representative we have ever worked with.

    Response from the owner

Hi Cherie, we appreciate the positive feedback! We will pass this on to Daniel and his team.

Highly unprofessional!! We had a Pre-approval and purchase agreement with the seller in hand. Out of nowhere the person we were working with stopped all communications with us. Wouldn't return phone calls or texts. If there was a snag or something we needed to work on they could've told us and pointed us in the right direction. This company supposedly prides themselves on customer service and meeting the needs of the customer. We were highly disappointed. No transparency or accountability. If you're looking to buy a home take your business somewhere else!!

David, Karen, and Justine were very helpful through the whole process. They answered any time we called, emailed us documents in a timely manner, and were always pleasant to speak with. Felt personal rather than a corporation.

    Response from the owner

Thank you so much for your feedback, Cameron!

I have NO mortgage at all, never have… not a day in my life. They call me multiple times a day and leave voicemails, each one sounding more irritated with me for not responding. I finally called back, and the first thing they ask for is my ss#. No, I won’t be giving that considering I do NOT have a loan. I ask to look it up by my number considering they call me all the time and simply ask whom they were looking for, no they needed my ss#. After a few minutes of begging them to just take me off the call list, she again said I needed my social to see what loan I have…. Not a chance. I would block them , however they always call unknown.

Cross Country Mortgage was very quick to start a equity loan for our remodel, although they were extremely difficult to work with. Very drawn out process, unfulfilled promises, unanswered calls and messages and lots of back and forth. Very stressful company to deal with. Maybe I should have read more reviews prior. We will definitely consider letting another company buy out our loan in the future. I suggest Customer service training.

    Response from the owner

Hi Lisa, we are sorry to hear that your loan process did not go as smoothly as expected. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback. We are always looking to be better and appreciate you choosing us. Hopefully, we'll have a chance to make it right in the future.

I have been trying to make my house payment for over 2 weeks now. They messed up typing my info in and now want to charge me a fee for their mistake. Plus none of this would be an issue if they just took debit cards. Plus very rude customer service representatives and just all around poor service

    Response from the owner

Hello Marie, we are sorry you experienced this. Please send us your full name and contact information, so we can escalate this issue.

This company will not stop calling and leaving messages! All automated from "Anna" and masking their number as local. We are talking more than a dozen! I will never do business with a business that is annoying and comes off as desperate!

We were referred to cross country mortgage through realtor.com and at first everything went great. I worked with Liliya and Susan (not putting last names). Liliya was very responsive for the most part, but Susan... Not so much. Every document request they had was ALWAYS met within 12 hours, because having bought 2 previous homes I understand the urgency of getting documents to the lender and underwriter. I spoke with loan officers literally every day asking if they needed anything from me. I had all my documents in two weeks before SCHEDULED closing. As time got closer to close and file went to underwriting, it seemed the loan officers were dodging my calls. They assured me closing was going to happen on time, but they missed two deadlines. Also, on the second (missed) closing day my loan officers were nearly impossible to contact. Liliya at least took my calls, but I didn't hear from Susan on either missed closing day. Horrible... Now, I have a long weekend (4th of July) where I'm basically squatting at my rental where I'm going to have to pay an outrageous daily rate to stay here. The sellers of my home can't close on their property because of cross country mortgage incompetence and they are living in a hotel and expecting me to pay for it. In a nutshell, cross country mortgage has caused two families an immense amount of anguish. My realtor, her company, the listing agent and her company, along with the title company have also all sworn off working with this company because of how horrible this whole thing went. Annnnddd they are telling their friends I wish I could give negative 5 stars, as they don't deserve even a single star. Liliya is great though so I guess she can get the star.

My realtor recommended Andrew Matkovic to me as this was my first time purchasing a home so I didn't know what lenders to talk to. The beginning and throughout the whole process was super easy and Andrew was super responsive and answered all of my question. Up until my closing day I would've given them a 5 star rating, but my closing day/week was terrible! They kept calling me asking for last minute documents and items, which I kind of expected, however he kept telling me he needed it in a different format, and finally the 4th format I sent was apparently the right one. He could've told me specifically the first time what he needed so it wouldn't have taken so long. Then the title agency was still waiting on more information from CrossCountry that I had no control over. It was suppose to be my signing and closing day and the title agency was calling me saying they can't schedule signing yet because they didn't have everything. I kept calling and emailing Andrew asking what was taking so long and he literally never answered me. Even after everything was over Andrew still never called or emailed to apologize for the delay. My closing day got pushed back 3 days. I will always use a bank for my future home purchases as that was so stressful. From what I've heard from other home buyers is that is not normal to be pushed back so much.

I have to say Cross Country Mortgage is number ONe in my book. I had them for my 30 year mortgage and they walked me through every step of the way. Hassle free. I just did a refi with them and my mortgage guy was Kevin Clarkson. He actually did both mortgages for me. He was aces. He went above and beyond his duties. He was always available for questions. I did not have to worry about one thing he handled any issues that came along and made a stressful situation into an enjoyable one. Please anyone that goes with this company reach out to Kevin or any of their people. They are all respectful and helpful. LETS GO CROSS COUNTRY!!!!!

I just recently went through the process of buying a new home and chose Cross Country Mortgage as my mortgage lender. The process began smoothly and Corey Urso was informative and helpful; however, as I continued to go through the process, Corey began to miss small details (misspellings of names, among other things) and started to keep me out of the loop. I received little to no updates from him throughout and the day of closing became a mess. There was a holdup with my documents, which caused me to reschedule the closing time. I had to send additional information he didn't make me aware of until the day of closing. Once I finally signed my closing documents, it turns out Corey gave me the wrong cost at closing! The most important piece of information was incorrect on Corey's end. Instead of apologizing and working to resolve the issue quickly, Corey blamed some of his own co-workers, which I found to be completely unprofessional. He refused to take any blame for his mistakes. Had he given me timely updates and taken more care in the situation, it all would have been much more manageable. For future home buyers, I hope Cross Country Mortgage and Corey work on sending regular updates and resolve issues that come up in a more professional manner.

Bobby Clifton and his team always do a great job! As a realtor, I want to work with someone who will communicate with me well. I get calls regularly updating me on the status of the loans so that I can best serve my clients. They truly care about giving good, quality service and they are impeccable with details. I would absolutely recommend them and look forward to serving our clients together again in the future.

    Response from the owner

Mismanaged my escrow account. Which caused my Homeowners in’s to be cancelled (they were aware and never contacted me, talked with my insurance co but not me). Once notified I fixed their error the same day. Then they decided to charged me $400 for past insurance (how do you insure the past. Really how is that even legal. A forced policy as result of their mismanagement to insure 2 months in early 2021. The policy was written in Dec 2021 to insure June and July of 2021. Oh and they also got hacked and turned over most personal details and did nothing to help with that as well. Not a good company, highlights all that is wrong with business integrity or lack there of. Shame.

If I could give them a negative star I would! No one has returned a call to myself or my my husband so we decided we will move on and find a more customer service company. Now I received an alert that my credit is being run by this company. We are NOT even trying to get a personal mortgage loan, this is for a business. I will NOT ever recommend this company to anyone. Beware DO NOT use this company.

    Response from the owner

We are so sorry for your experience, Penny. We're always improving, and hopefully, we'll have a chance to make it right in the future.

My daughter is using this company to buy a house…. She is a first time homebuyer…. They have communication issues… they changed the closing date without informing my daughter or the realtor… she found out when she called to ask a question about something else…. They keep changing the amount of money she needs for closing cost and down payment… the assistant and the loan officer continue to tell us two different things…. My Daughter has EXCELLENT credit and they did not give her the lowest interest rate…. They lied and said the lowest available was 4.3 percent…. After researching, this is incorrect…. They are asking her for documents that they need immediately to verify where she will get the closing cost money…after she told them her parents would be giving her a gift for some of it... The amount increased by $1,800… I am very concerned about this company… my daughter is in her 20’s, has excellent credit, she probably needs to go to a more reputable company. This company was recommended to her by her realtor who is a very nice honest person in our community…I am certain he was not aware of the way they run their business… also, they told her that first time home buyer grants were not good for her… stating she would need more money down with the grant… even stating she would have to pay the money back… they are DISHONEST they are a HEADACHE… buying a home should be exciting for her….not this stressful…

Worst company to deal with. Customer representatives take a long time to answer a call and do not transfer you to the correct department. Employers keep hanging up the calls or answer and then hangup. Business creates another account without telling you. Please use another company if you can.

I sold a house in which the buyer used CrossCountry Mortgage. From the beginning, my realtor had communication issues with the lender. CrossCountry scheduled a closing day without consulting with my Attorney who was doing the title work. CrossCountry scheduled the closing on a day the attorney had taken off. CrossCountry additionally did not put any buffer in the closing, meaning it had to close on a certain date or the deal would have to start over. The attorney sacrificed their day off to come to the rescue of the buyer and seller to close the deal. Had the attorney been out of town, there would not have been a deal.

I am apologizing now for the long read. My home buying process in April 2020 was made a breeze by my realtor and the man who helped me get my loan. It appeared to be smooth sailing for the first year. Fast forward to July 2021 and that all changed. I had received a letter saying my automatic payments were put on hold until I verified my account routing number and that I needed to make a one time payment. I made the one time payment only for the automatic payment to then come out. I called my bank and stopped both payments coming out, I then made a third payment since I canceled the other two. Makes sense to me but miraculously the mortgage company began to deny I had ever made a third payment. I called daily and spoke to numerous customer service representatives and supervisors. I sent in proof that the payment had been made but no one wanted to hear it. I was told daily that I owed the payment end of story. I called my bank to verify the payment was made and was even given the trace number. Provided this information on top of bank statements to the research department and still my payment was being denied. For months I was given the run around, no one could seem to give me a straight answer other than I still owed my July payment. I contacted the better business bureau and filed a complaint. The mortgage company of course denied my complaint but I wasn't backing down. I submitted to the BBB my bank statements and all the information given to me by my bank about where my payment had ended up. After 3 months my issue was finally resolved. You would think I'd be happy but the mortgage company basically put a spin on the story saying that the payment was finally made and they waived my late fees as a courtesy. I have never once missed a payment and the issue was a mistake made on their part. Instead of taking responsibility and just apologizing for the stress and aggravation they tried to make themselves look like they were doing me some huge favor. As if that wasn't bad enough after this whole ordeal, my mortgage went up $105. Legitimate increase or not, the timing feels questionable to me and like a retaliation. What began as a great experience has turned into a complete nightmare. I no longer trust this company and I personally plan on refinancing as soon as I am able to do so.

Horrible company. They have called me almost daily for months, long after me telling them to stop calling me. My number is also on the do not call registry. I finally had to block all the numbers they contacted me through.

Cross Country Mortgage paid another person’s property taxes, in addition to mine out of my escrow. They increased my house payment $1000 a month based on their mistake, calculating that I will continue to pay another person’s property taxes. After countless phone calls from me, over weeks about this, they have now discovered their mistake. The county won’t just refund the money, so they are sending a letter to the property owner begging for the money back. In the mean time they tell me that my house payment won’t be recalculated for at least 3 months, so I can just continue to pay that extra $1000 a month. You don’t want to hear my feeling about this.
