Communitywide Federal Credit Union Reviews

Extremely poor customer service!! This is the second time that I was charged twice for my auto loan. I called and was assured that only one automatic payment would be processed in the future. I even updated the bank account I wanted it withdrawn from and it was still withdrawn twice from the wrong account. They just pass the blame on the last person you spoke with saying they entered something wrong. UPDATE Shortly after posting this and submitting a BBB complaint I was contacted by the regional manager to resolve this issue. He had already reviewed all notes and conversations regarding both incidents. He apologized sincerely and scheduled to have the funds returned to my account the next day. I really appreciate the quick response and I am satisfied with the resolution. I still don’t feel comfortable having automatic payments set up but the manager gave me his direct extension to make any future payments over the phone. Thank you for looking into this matter as it was extremely stressful to have this happen so close to Christmas.
We are very sorry to hear of the experience that you have had with us. A member of our management team will be reaching out to you shortly to get more information regarding this.

Have had an auto loan through the since June of 2021 and have had no problems yet. Guess I’ll wait and see if anything arises, but so far so good. I don’t understand the negativity of these reviews.

5 stars...i,ve never had a problem in the last 15 years of banking here....i even moved out of state, and they still fulfill my needs . Not sure why negative comments , there a credit union, they cannot preform miracles , there was a time i could not get approved for a loan, but that was my fault, not the wonderful workers.
Thank you so much for your positive comments about Communitywide Federal Credit Union! We look forward to your next visit! Take care!

I had a truck voluntarily repoed, I gave it back, because it was a lemon and broke down on me, so many problems I couldn't afford to fix it. I hired a business debt consolidation company, they tried to contact comm wide like 100 times trying to negotiate a payment, comm wide went behind my back and sued me without me knowing. I am not happy with these sharks. Very bad business ethics.

Erin was super helpful in solving a issue that was becoming very frustrating. Her follow through was very impressive. Thanks Erin!

I've financed my last few vehicles with Communitywide. I couldn't be more pleased! I'd like to offer a big shout-out to Kylie! She was great in helping with the purchase of 2 motorcycles last week, too! If you want great service, with a smile that you can even hear over the phone, give Kylie a call at the Lincolnway location in Mishawaka! She's the best!
Thank you for the great review and thank you for making CW your Credit Union!

I don’t come in very often but when I do I always get great service. Everyone is smiling and will do whatever they can to help you with your transaction. I was in on 6/8/22 and Karla did a wonderful job. The one item she was sure of she received help from another employee and I was taken care of and on my way. Thanks again to Karla and the entire team @ the western branch. 😀

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS CREDIT UNION! Please weigh your options as this is the most unprofessional, outdated, and lackluster financial institution that I have ever dealt with. For starters, they never send a welcome packet or give any introduction once you become a member with them. I suppose they expect you to figure everything out on your own, which I’m fine with as I’m tech savvy and have worked at a bank before, but for others who may not be familiar with banking/loans this is not okay. This credit union has added forced placed insurance to my auto loan, but I’ve had full coverage on the vehicle since the day I made the purchase. After days of struggling to get assistance with removing the CPI, I finally found someone who would help but the bad news is that it takes this credit union 2-3 weeks to remove the CPI (force placed insurance) from my loan. The CPI was $4500, which is robbery as no insurance cost that much for a consumer vehicle. Additionally, I am paying interest on an additional $4500 that should not even be add to my loan. The collections team told me they couldn’t do anything about it because they partner with a 3rd party company and have to wait until they make the adjustment. I am so furious! I’m so upset that I have opted to take $19K from my brokerage account just to be done with this credit union. I’m truly trying my best to save everyone else from a headache. These people are lazy (or just really slow), incompetent, and super unprofessional. I would not refer my worst enemy to this credit union. Please avoid.
We are sorry to hear of your experience with us. When a loan is opened with us we do send a welcome packet and we attempt to call every new member. Unfortunately, if a voicemail mailbox is full we are unable to leave a message for new members. We also do require that members have full coverage insurance on their auto loans with us. If we do not have proof of this insurance we do send notices out in an attempt to retrieve insurance documentation. After a certain amount of time we do place our own insurance on the vehicle if proof is not provided. Once we receive good proof of insurance we do reverse the charges however. If you would like an update on your current loan and refund feel free to contact us at 1-800-729-6808 and we would be happy to assist with this.

Have an auto loan through this credit union. The truck I purchased from a dealership in Indianapolis had a blown engine within my 90 day warranty. The dealership has been diligent in helping in any way they can, including paying for a new engine + labor. This credit union on the other hand has been ignorant. I purchased this truck for work and needless to say, I haven't been working since the truck went down. I have continued to make payments to keep my loan current, even with no positive cash flow. I asked the credit union to work with me on the payments and explained the whole situation to no avail. My credit and my small business are in jeopardy now from no fault of my own. These people would rather me default than to help me in any way. I will never do business with these jokers again and I would not recommend them to ANYONE! Sought legal help and will be moving forward if necessary. Attorney I spoke to has dealt with this credit union on several other compliants with other dealerships. Apparently, it is common Indiana law to put the bank and dealerships on the suit together. Stay away from this credit union!

I don’t know where to start… this credit union is terrible! If you can avoid doing business with this organization, then please do! You will have dodged a bullet. They do not communicate well and customer service is provided at the absolute lowest standard. It is difficult to make payments here, and if you send payment via ACH from an external bank account (which most people do because no one banks at Communitywide) then it takes a whole week for the payment to be applied. The rates may be a bit lower but trust me you’ll find that you'd rather deal with competent people than to save a couple hundred bucks in interest. I am in the process of refinancing and being done with this sorry excuse for a credit union.
We are sorry to hear of the negative experience that you have had us and hopefully we can provide some clarification on the delay with ACH payments. Due to federal regulations we are required to place a longer hold on the first payment that comes out of an external account. This can take up to 6 business days in order to validate the account. Once this payment posts and is validated it can then be used like normal and it will only take the normal 24-48 business hours to post to your loan.

So after dealing with them for a few months I can say; 1) customer service over the phone is garbage and extremely dismissive. 2) their "ability" to work with you is a lie. And 3) they clearly don't like being told they are wrong, ie; I called to ask if they had a copy of my title and they informed they did, Great I need it so I can transfer my truck from Michigan (where I bought it from) to Indiana, but they are clueless about laws that other states impose like the fact I am supposed to have a title in hand from Michigan but since they are in Indiana they hold it.... kinda need it so I can transfer it TO Indiana FROM Michigan. But clearly as whom ever I spoke to told me wrong as she hung up... tempted to refinance somewhere else just to get away from them. Update, spoke with Molly and she knew exactly what she was doing and what needed to be done, so thank you very much Molly 😊
I'm glad to hear Molly was able to help you! If you need anything in the future please let us know!
