Commerce Bank Big Bend Blvd, Webster Groves

I closed my account with them a few years ago (I went in the the branch and sat with the branch manager) after being unhappy with the bank. I received a letter from debt collector say I owe almost $500 to commerce bank because of a negative balance I left on the account. I told them I no longer have that account and closed back in 2019. I call the Webster groves location and they said they have no record of me closing the account and said I would have to have them a subpoena if I wanted to get proof from them I went into the branch. I’m beyond disgusted with their antics. They allowed my account to be open, after I specifically went into the branch to close it, to gain overdraft fees on an account that shouldn’t have been able to process anything transactions because of the closing. The new branch manager had no desire to help and told me her manager couldn’t help me either.

Over the past few weeks I've had my savings account dropped twice after I made a deposit. When I called the online help number, the operator was rude and said there would be a cashier's check mailed to me with $5 deducted for the check and postage. He also asked if I told the teller that I wanted my savings account open after I made the transaction. Seriously! They were going to charge me hundreds of dollars worth of unwarranted overdraft fees until I threatened to go to my lawyer. They will also run your most expensive transactions first to get more overdraft fees. CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS!!!! I left Bank of America for Commerce for some of the same reasons, but Commerce is just as bad if not worse. Not to mention extremely bad customer service. I'm about to try US bank but the reviews don't seem very positive either. Any suggestions?

Been banking here for years with no difficulty. A very popular bank, so expect long lines and wait times at certain parts of the week. Odd hours, but what bank doesn't have those?

My branch for ten years. No problems for me. Edit: Staff turnover. Commerce is not maintaining the place as well as it used to. New staff is friendly, but green.

Driving around the building is a bit confusing (only one way in on big bend and comes out on street behind building. Staff are friendly. Decent facility.

My family and I have had great customer service here for decades now.

Worst banking experience. To cash a check my parents wrote me I had to give my son 2 forms of I'd then pay $8. This is one of many reasons I dont bank here.

There really should be a way to let people waiting in drive thru know there will be a 25 minute wait. Insanely long wait times here.

Why doesn't this branch answer the phone? EVER? Tried all week. No answer after 10 minutes of ringing 3 different times.

I always have a good time here, it's my favorite bank
