    Checked the website to see vehicles and prices but that's not happening unless I first give them all my personal information... That's pretty annoying but maybe that's why I've never seen anybody there when I drive past. Way to help out Vaughn Automotive. I'm thinking they should be paying you guys for your service.

We are doing just fine, we have helped hundreds of people this year alone, many of them who didn't think they would be able to get approved for a Nicer, Newer car. Those people who actually went through the process and allowed us to help found a lot of value out of it, and instead of bad-mouthing us, they hugged us on the way out for making an impact in their lives -- and those are the people who keep us motivated to wake up and come to work every day. But if you know someone over at Vaughn's, could you run that idea by them about them paying us? That would be pretty cool. :)

    They sold me a ford flex that had been wrecked after lying to me and telling me it hadn't been when I specifically asked them. Car was dirty when I test drove it so I couldn't see alot of the damage until I got home. Holes were cut out of the carpet around the base of the seats, electrical had been messed with and exposed under the seats. Center console was off center and broken They put new tires on the front but not the back on an awd vehicle which u cannot do. The rims were completely chewed up. They would not even consider fixing any the problems but do an aliment and put new tires on the back too. But luckily I was able to take it back and get my car back. I will never deal with clemons again and will be telling all my clients the same thing.

    We forgot the paperwork for our car so we had to come back the next day. They sold the vehicle we were there to sign the paperwork for a couple hours earlier. They failed to mention that to us and ran our credit 2 times a piece on an entirely unrelated vehicle not even close to what we wanted then told us there was nothing they could do about the credit checks they ran on us which dropped our credit by 20 points. They couldn't even be bothered to make a call for us to the people they ran our credit checks through just said we had to look them up and gove them a call. The worst car lot I have ever visited in Iowa. I definitely highly recommend going to Vaughn Automotive instead. They at least discussed EVERYTHING with us before even deciding if they were going to attempt to run our credit.

    I went in for an oil change on the car I purchased from Clemons. The girls at the service desk were both friendly and efficient. My oil change was faster (I had an appt) than I expected. I will continue to buy my cars from them and use their service department due to the great service I always receive there.

    I had some warranty work done on my Ford and was extremely pleased on the level of service I received. Dealing with professional, informative staff in the service dept was refreshing. A shout out goes to Kurt Stevens who treated me like I was the only customer he had dealt with that day. He explained things to me in terms I could understand.     It’s ridiculous that you need to submit your name, email address and phone number on the website just to see the inventory… and then you have to call to get pricing. What a joke! Just show the dang inventory and pricing... I FELT I NEEDED TO ADD TO THIS REVIEW... They keep calling me over and over and texting me! please remove me from your mailing/text list!

    Thanks for looking in to our company. I understand your comments, and I understand your frustration; we don’t want anyone to get angry, just as we don’t get angry with people who don’t do business with us. I know it’s hard to understand, but there is some “method to the madness”. We didn’t always ask for information in this manner. After a very long time of research, and a ton of money spent on that research, we discovered two very startling things: 1. There were a large number of people who actually wanted to do business with us, but surfed our website for a while and didn’t think they seen anything that worked for them. These were all kinds of people; there were people all over the state who have bought cars from us for many, many years before the internet; there were local people who didn’t like traveling to buy their car; and there were even more out of town folks who like us & our staff, and like our no-pressure, up-front way of dealing with customers. What they didn’t know is we have all kind of resources to find the right vehicle for them. We have several stores in the family across Iowa, and inventory buyers trying to buy cars every day. We couldn’t help those customers because we didn’t know who they were or that they were shopping, and they didn’t know we could have easily found other vehicles than what was showing up on our website. 2. A large number of people were leaving our site because they believed their credit was so bad that we wouldn’t be able to finance them, so they resorted to a “Buy-Here Pay-Here” which is the worst thing they could have done for their credit; or they thought there was no way they could afford payments on a nicer, newer car. So we experimented. We found most people were willing to give us their information because they truly needed help. I can’t count the times we have changed somebody’s life because we were able to contact them, find a lender willing to work with their specific situation, and get them approved for a car so they could go work, go to school, pick up the kids….whatever their life needed. So what I’m saying is we get a few complaints about the website now and then, but for every one complaint we get, we get 50 “Thank You’s” from people we were able to help – people who were disrespected and treated poorly at other car dealerships just because they had a few bumps in their life. In this age of all those corporately-owned, big-city stores having such huge advertising budgets, they may get a lot of attention, but they are empty promises, they care less and can’t match the experience at a privately owned, small Iowa business. I know it sounds corny, but that’s what we do – We aren’t doctors or surgeons saving people’s lives; we aren’t scientists curing diseases – we are just normal hard-working people and we found our own little way to make a difference. If that doesn’t resonate with some people, well, we accept that. We wish them luck in whatever experience they are searching for. But for people that are willing to understand why we do things, maybe we can help each other out. You see, the information isn’t a secret, it’s just that we can’t help people if we don’t know who they are or who needs help. We don't send "junk mail" any day, let alone every day. Our Customer Care team reaches out to see if they can answer questions or help in any way -- and when you don't want to talk to them anymore, just tell them and they quit reaching out -- that simple. If you have specific questions, and are willing, we would love to help. Our sales team is super friendly, we think you would like us -- or if you prefer, we’ll put you right in touch with a manager and you can work directly with them. No hassles, just up-front dealing and hopefully happy approvals!

    Super expensive service charges. Makes me remember why I prefer not to go to a dealer for regular work. Oil change was a good deal but spark plug change and brake pads replacement and a couple of minor things like coolant replacement added up to almost $1000. Completely blew me away. $99.95 hourly labor charge, apparently rounded up to a whole hour or more for most tasks.

    Thom, first and foremost, thank you for your business. We are disappointed you feel the way you do, as our goal is to obviously delight our customers. We understand you don't do this every day, and there have been a lot of changes. First of all, in order to employ the very best technicians, and to keep them around, you have to pay them well. Personnel is our single highest expense and we are paying significantly more for good people than we ever thought we would. On top of that there are benefits to stay competitive with any other industry. On top of that there is a ton of training that has to be done in order to be the best shop we can be. Then of course, just like all of us in our personal lives, the cost of everything is going up -- the cost of our supplies, of oil, grease, special tools, electricity, property taxes, technology, the cost of cars -- you name it, it has gone up. In 1962 gas was .31 and you could go to the movies for .69. It is inevitable that as time goes on prices go up. On the bright side, we are still 30-40% cheaper than the big city, cheaper than our local competition, and if one would shop like services, we are also right in there with small independent shops -- our advantage? Our techs are trained, we have the equipment to do all the repairs, not just the little ones, we have loaner cars, we have a shuttle service, we have a car wash we run most vehicles through, we have a nice waiting room with TV (a lot of value that most people forget to include).... and the list goes on. We try our best. We don't just throw darts at a board to determine our prices -- it takes a lot of thought and research to come to the intersection of keeping it affordable for our customers and keeping it enough to pay our bills and keep the doors open. Didn't mean to write a book here, but we take customer feedback seriously, and if it was important enough for you to wonder about and post, it was important enough for us to explain. Again, thank you for your business and we hope to see you again.

    Scheduled an appointment on a Monday night since I had to work until 4. No one really seemed to care I was there to make a vehicle purchase or not. Two young men who apparently worked there were being rather obnoxious moving vehicles while I was looking at the truck I was interested in. The sales people who I did work with had very little to no knowledge of the trucks I was looking at. Ended up making a purchase elsewhere due to a lack of customer service and knowledge of their vehicles. Only gave them two stars because the second salesperson who I was dumped off to by the first salesperson was slightly more cordial and personable than the first.

    I took a F450 to them for repair. I think they don't work on this big of truck, but instead of saying so they ran the batteries down and said the motor isn't any good. We had a big snow storm coming, they parked it out behind their building and left the sliding back window open. I only know this because I thought I better get the batteries out and charge them before taking it somewhere else. Glad I did before the snow hit.

    Linda, so sorry for the problems with your truck. Yes, we actually do work on trucks like yours and even bigger. We diagnosed the problems and shared those with you. We did not "run the batteries down" -- that does not benefit us in any way, nor do our Heavy Duty technicians have time to do something of the sort. We found low compression in multiple cylinders, a bearing seized the engine. We suspect the engine ran out of coolant, over heated and damaged the engine. Even though you bought the truck from a salvage yard, if bought recently, they should still have some level of policy adjustment to either help with the repair bill, or even possibly help find a replacement engine. As far as the window, we are very sorry if it was left open -- our staff usually walks the service lot at the end of the day to check on customer cars and if it was missed, we apologize and glad you caught it.
