Wonderful bank with small town customer service and big bank technology backbone: I have been a customer here for over 10 years. I have come to expect and appreciate the excellent personal customer experience, where from the teller to the VP everyone knows me by name. What is a welcome surprise though is that they also provide an excellent online experience. I am doing financial transactions with multiple other services for my 401k and mortgages with other much bigger institutions and must say the Charter Bank online system is equally (if not better) easy to use, reliable, and comprehensive. So kudos to Charter Bank.

I'm very happy with the bank itself. Friendly tellers. Very high class interior. No one pounces on you when you walk in the door and that's​ greatly appreciated. However, the Android app leaves a lot to be desired. Here are four things that other banks similar to Charter do that would be helpful 1. Improve the picture taking aspect for depositing checks via the app. Allow a flash to be used so I don't have to use a lamp or find a bright window. The app too often regects photos as too dark. 2. Remove the requirement of having to write " mobile deposit only" on the back of the check. Too many times it doesn't recognize that I've written it and I have to retake the photo. Sometimes multiple times. Other banks do not require this text to be written so why must you? 3. Add the ability to check a balance on accounts without having to sign in to the app. Other Banks have this feature and it's hugely convenient​. 4. Increase the number of mobile deposits per month. I think the limit is 11 and I would like to be able to deposit more then that per month. This seems like an odd restriction.
