The online application was easy. I got a response quickly. I came in, finalized the application and test drove the car I wanted and within a half hour was driving off. No pressure from the sales department, Austin was knowledgeable and forthcoming with information. With a seven day return warranty, I had time to take the vehicle to my mechanic for a diagnostic test. 10/10 would recommend CarHop to anyone!

Brought my son in to buy his first car and Alex and Noah were wonderful! Patient, kind, and really wanted to make sure my son got the vehicle he would be completely satisfied with. Sold us a 2008 Malibu that after one moth of owning has had several mayor failures. It has a god awful oil leak it leaks 5 qts of oil over a 2 days period, the heater core is bad our floor gets wet anytime we try to drive it and now our breaks have completely failed. Also the canister vent solenoid that is a power train part (power train is under warranty) has gone out and they claim it’s not covered. They will not fix anything and have seriously screwed us on this car!

The application was super easy and they were really patient as I looked at almost every car on the lot super happy with my choice and definitely would go again!

After dealing with constant roadblocks from other dealers who didn't want to help us, Car Hop's staff, managers, and our representative, Austin, were our lifesavers. Everyone was very professional, courteous, and straight forward about their business and what the plans were in helping us find something to drive home with. We are truly grateful, thankful, and deeply humbled by the acts of kindness and compassion you all showed and expressed to us. We love our new vehicle! Thank you for everything!

Austin is VERY VERY nice. He helped me with everything, including the first time going there. They answered every question I asked, very good information, and very understanding about certain situations as well. Very quick and easy approval, I had my car in under an hour! I was very worried about my credit score but I got approved! Overall I had a very good experience. So now I am driving home with a 2009 Ford Taurus! Would recommend Carhop to everyone!! Friendly and very professional service. The young man I worked with was great and worked with me through every step. Explained everything thoroughly and always asked if I had any questions. Told them exactly what I was looking for, and they were not pushy. They made sure I got what I came there for within my price range. I do not like pushy car salespersons and so I was super grateful for their services and their professionalism. Highly recommend.

Needed a nice reliable ride quickly and CarHop had me in an out in less than 3 hours with an awesome vehicle and low payments! If you are in a rough spot and have bad credit this is the place for you, they even give you options and make sure you still have enough money for other things you need. They were very nice and personable and I can't wait to trade it in after only two years it will be paid off. Highly recommend!!

If I could put 0 stars I would. They say the want to get you in a car that day. But what they don’t tell you is that car more than likely is a lemon straight out of a mechanics worst nightmare. Ride a Uber or a bus before you buy from here

Even in the midst of all the COVID issues she was able to work with me whenever I may have had an issue. The staff at this location are always friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to get you in a car. Made my final payment today and I have them to thank for it.

I bought a vehicle here in 2020. They offer rewards to anyone who make all their payments. I never missed a payment and have been a great customer. I called and tried using my rewards on 2 separate occasions and they would not let me. Vehicles are very over priced for the quality you get. Horrible customer service! I will be paying the car off and never returning as a customer!

The reason I gave carhop 5 stars is because the came through for me when no other dealership would approve me. At the beginning of this week I was feeling really bad and was even being suicidal with everything that was going in my personal life and with not having a car it made it so worse I thought it was the end there was no hope but after my experience at carhope I now have hope and feel that I can overcome these hard times I'm going through everyone was friendly and willing to work with me even with my bad credit past and car issues they are understand and know especially now in these difficult times with this pandemic people struggle it was the best customer service I have ever gotten and the car that I got is great with no issues at all carhop will always hold a spot in my heart they saved my life and for that I am truly grateful

The sales staff at CarHop in Des Moines, IA is more than Awsome!!! I was at the end of my rope. My situation was so bad I didn't know what to do. The vehicle I was driving had been repossessed that week, and my credit score was low. I had bought two other vehicles in the past so I called CarHop. They were able to help me. Did I mention that I had no trade-in, no collateral, and nothing for a down payment. I was blown away! When I fell behind in my payments, Christy helped me alot! She worked, worked, with me and even when the vehicle had to be disabled because I kept missing my payment plan dates, She was still polite, never threatened me or made feel uncomfortable. Just make my payments on time. With help from family I was able to get caught up. Christy is very direct and to the point so you understand that making your payments on time is important. They’re a bunch of scams. I bought a car from them after the first two cars, one didn’t start up and the other one had an engine light on . On my 15th day of buying the car, I called them and let them know I had problems their only excuse was “all cars have problems” . They sell the worse of the worse cars . They’ll sell you a car knowing it’ll work for 15 mins only just to take your money . The manager is the same way, he’s no help to you if your car breaks down, they'll offer service from their mechanics. If you have problems with them my best advice is to call the attorney general and make a case. They sell you horrible cars , I have yet to hear a good story at the end of someone I know contract with car hop. They’re a bunch of FRAUDS .!

Just bought my second car from here my first experience was great so I decided to go back and trade in my car for a better newer car and they did amazing! Mike was my salesman this time around and he did awesome! Got me and my family a lot newer car way less miles and great deal! Lower interest as well and got me Exactly what payment amount I wanted thank you guys again for the great customer service and the great buy! Will definitely go back again!

Very disappointed. Submitted online “approval” form. Guy called asking me to come in. Explained that I’m very busy and don’t want to spend time until I have an approval or at least conditional approval. Basically wasn’t trying to waste my time and come in and be told you need xxx more money down. Guy (Austin) said no problem. I sent him docs. Called to clarify. Guy (Mike) answered. Extremely unprofessional, rude and zero help. Said I had to come in before they do anything. If that was the policy than great. Either way Mike was a horrible representative of the company and I would never do business with him. Austin did a great job. Get your employees on the same page instead of lying to customers.

Mike was Amazingly helpful. He took time to listen and understand my needs of a car. He went through and explain everything. Im happy with my choice of vehicle. My experience was Great. Thanks to Mike. Highly I recommend anyone in need of good service and affordable vehicle.

I CHANGED my review...At first I had the best car shopping experience ever. I worked with Austin and Mike and they were able to assist me in getting a new car that I love. The manager working was extremely helpful as well. They all managed to work hard and diligently to get me into a new car. Very helpful with tips and experiences. I should have went to Carhop in the first place. Their main focus is getting you into something you can afford and build your credit at the same time. I'm am very thankful for what they did and continuously do for their customers. I am editing my review because the customer service is stellar - 5 Star for sure. *See above* But after having the car a few months it seems that there is little to be said about the cars themselves. I do not feel they thoroughly inspect the cars before putting them on the lot to sell. I have had my car for a few months and there is more issues with the car than was lead on to be. But since there seems to be a discretion with what the actual warranty is - the issues I now face is not covered. I have had cars 10 years or longer and driven across the country in the same car and never had a power steering leak issue/rack and pinion. Sorry, but I do not feel or see how driving 9K is the cause or issue. Despite what has happened Mike was able to resolve the issue and ease my frustrations. He has gone above and beyond to come to a resolution... WE were able to discus the situation and come to a mutual agreement and understanding. Top notch service and I still recommend Carhop.

Just got my car 3 days ago, and was headed to work and had to pull over because every single light turned on and the engine started smoking. Wasn’t told the car had these issues and was in complete awe. Needed a car urgently due to issues with my other one, and honestly feel like I was lied to, to a certain aspect. I feel extremely let down. No wonder the process was so quick and I was out of there in less than 2 hours. Extremely disappointed.

They guys are really great! Bad credit or good credit they will work with you the best way they can and will go out there way to get you in a vehicle. Dont waste your time, if you work for any of the delivery companies they will discriminate against your income and only take portions to account for their "decisions " then they deny you based on their discriminatory practice after they waste your day and take all your private information. You will get better service and not be discriminated against at ANY other dealership. These guys have been reported. Go somewhere else that will treat you fairly and be helpful.

This is an awful place to get a car from. The only reason I've giving a 1 star rating is because it doesn't let me give a zero. My car has had so many things wrong with it in the months since I drove it off the lot that's it's not even funny. Every 2 months the breaks fail. Seriously no matter how many times they get fixed they break again in just 2 months. Breaks aren't covered under warranty conveniently for them. More recently the timing chain broke and I took it to one of their shops to get it fixed and guess what that's not covered under warranty either. What?! They're warranty is a complete joke. And since then the breaks need work yet again, of course, and there's a loud grinding noise now everytime I start the ignition. It's still in the time frame to be covered by warranty but I guarantee if I ask about it they still will say "it's one of the things we don't cover" Don't know what's wrong now and I don't care. All I know is that this place completely ripped me off and has caused nothing but problems. Maybe I'm the only one in the history of this place to get ripped off cause it honestly baffles me that it has so many 5 star ratings. But even 1 star is a star too many if you ask me. This place should be shut down.

Very disappointed!! After all the good reviews I thought we could trust this place! I’m sending their car back, nothing but problems and they say they will fix it I’ve sent it in 3 times and it still isn’t fixed!!!! Not happy!

I sat with Alex to practice their customer service. They are working very hard. I was told in practice to leave a review. I like how I get a 18 month warranty that covers any repairs with just a $100 deposit. I can also build my credit effectively with 200 points in 2 years. All offered at a great deal with low monthly payments. Here is a one eyed cat I found. Very cute and gets to ride in a used 2012 Ford Focus. 18 years old with no credit history. After being turned down by various dealers, the employees at the Des Moines CarHop location made sure I left with a car that I liked. There were 2 cars I was choosing from and Austin heavily recommended one. After going through the details of both cars and test driving both, I liked the one Austin recommended by a mile. It was a no brainer. Greatly appreciate CarHop and their employees. I rly needed this!

Noah at Car Hop saved me from a miserable, hot day of car searching, and sold me a car with my terms, or better. This man did an amazing job, and was professional beyond reason. He was working alone, and handled probably eight sets of people, yet never panicked. He made sure all were taken care of in a timely manner, and kept them all straight. The place was packed. He didn’t lock us out as close, he finished the sales, with a smile and great professional manner. He needs a huge bonus. I am amazed. He didn’t pressure me to buy a $30,000 car. He was never rude to anyone, and no one did he turn away. A true salesman with class. I love car hop and their terms are a dream come true. They truly want to help people find a ride! Great job!

Manager is all about his bonus bought a car messaged them three days later about a problem told em I work agriculture and won't be able to get in for a long time called em back and the guy says been to long who knows what's happened since I purchased. Also found out my engine was swapped out so who knows the real miles on it. I recommend going somewhere else where they will treat you with dignity and respect. Was my own fault but never will I recommend such a place to anyone ever again.literally one stop away from a junkyard and for 90% price increase... #next stop junkyard.

Their process is legit, they work with local shops for maintenance, and payments are actually pretty good. Would highly recommend.

CarHop’s program works! In January 2020, I found myself in desperate need for a reliable car that I could put a small down payment and then, make payments each month. My credit was abysmal. I don’t think it was even 500 – as I had previously filed bankruptcy and was unable to work due to disability. Everywhere I tried to buy a car, I was denied. I shared my story with Mike and Noah at CarHop Des Moines. They listened empathetically and were able to get me approved for a 2005 Honda Pilot with approx. 80k miles – excellent CarFax report – only 1 previous owner, who took meticulous care of the car and used their local dealer for regular maintenance. Each month, I made my payments on time and in full. In return, CarHop provided positive reporting to the credit monitoring bureaus, showing that I had been making my payments. Fast forward to today, September 2021, my credit score is 670! Plus, I’ve been approved for up to a $26k car at a 4.5% interest rate! Wow! I would not have been able to get here without the assistance of CarHop – they take chances on people like me who have hit rough patches. Noah is still the manager at CarHop Des Moines and Mike is now manager of his own location down in Missouri. I’m grateful to both of them and hope they keep doing what they’re doing to help people like me!

Mike was amazing sold me an amazing suburban at a great price. There was an issue with a vehical I test drove I let them know they took it right off the sales floor so no one else would have a problem. Honest decent people who go over and above to fit out budgets. They also didn't require a huge outrageous down payment and a warranty is also great.

Issues in the past did not stop Mike from helping me get a car. There were a few bumps, but that's to be expected with some used cars. I am thankful to have a car now that actually runs! Edit: Beware, if you don't use autopay they will harass you with calls, emails, and texts about your payments - even if you're on time (-1 star)

My experience has been great!! Not for everyone and it's a gamble like any used dealership!! Carhop is just a higher gamble. Find a car. Like a car. Listen to it. Take it to a mechanic and have it looked at within the 7 days. Not every car will be perfect. Like a car. Look into that car. Looks like a good deal with no clanking. Go for it! My car so far has had no problems with it at all. Been at least 50,000 miles and only basic maintenance has been done to it. Not all the cars will be the same. I promise that some will have problems. Some won't. Just make sure you listen to it and take it for a checkup like your own kid when you pull it off the lot.

The guys at the this place are top notch. They had me approved and in a vehicle that I wanted in under a hour and were very professional. My thanks to Mike Noah and Austin. I would highly recommend this company to other people, great job guys.

THE WORST PLACE TO PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM… Any topic Breach of contract or payment hassle… You name it Carhop on SE 14th Managed by Noah who treats customers brand new EVERYTIME (not meant as a compliment to his customer service technique)… The other Agents are not a reflection of this behavior they’re just doing their jobs. The entire Carhop Company may not be this careless but this particular branch awful. What’s crazy is as a customer I waited patient (I am aware that COVID-19 changed how most things operate) DIDNOT hassle Carhop but the SE 14th branch has put me and my family in more than one bad situation with the lack complying with their own contract. Whenever they reach out to finally deliver, it’ll be about taking this review down. These aren’t all the details for what has happened but this will conclude my review of Carhop on SE 14th.

I absolutely LOVE Carhop and Mike is the best car salesman I have ever encountered (and I have one in my family). Mike gets to know you on a personal level and understands your needs and wants.. He isn't just out there to make a paycheck and go home... He is there to help you drive away safe and happy in the car that you have always dreamed of. I won't go anywhere else.. I have horrible credit and a repossession and was still able to get a nice 2010 ford escape in a matter of less than 2 hours. Mike is the one who helped me and he went above and beyond to make sure I left with a vehicle. It's been a month since I got my car and I absolutely love it. I highly recommend to people with bad credit.

If i could give less than a one-star i would we have a 2005 ford explorer from the company and the transmission has gone out on it TWICE and it has been in the shop 5 times for various reasons since us buying the car in SEPTEMBER. the manager Noah makes broken promises that he has no authority to make such as promising to get us in a new vehicle if the transmission went out again and when it happened corporate said that that was definitely NOT an option . He also mentioned moving 2 payments which would have been worth the time that we were out of a car total due to it breaking down but corporate did not approve this either . We have made our payments on time and been very cordial with car hop and its employees in spite of,but they do not work with their customers and correct their wrong. i would not recommend

Honestly this was the best car dealership experience I've had to date. My previous car engine for a lack of a better term blew up and needed a car immediately. Noah was the individual who helped and he genuinely wanted the best outcome for me and not just a deal made. They even covered the tow out of good faith for a good payment track record with the previous car. Couldn't be more grateful and appreciative.

We had stopped in and talked to Austin about getting a car and we applied but needed to wait for a certain car. things were taking awhile and they all kept in contact with us. Mike finished things up with us and finally finalized everything with us and we actually got the SUV we wanted.
