Bay Federal Credit Union Mt Hermon Rd, Scotts Valley

I applied for an account online. I never received any "you're approved, welcome" type letters or emails, just started receiving spam promotion emails and a few pieces of random mail, one of which had an account number. Okay, guess I'm in? I never got a debit card. I went into this branch to cash a check (the whole point of opening an account) and they said I can't cash checks for a few months. They are the only CU in the county. Good luck paying rent and bills if you need to cash your checks! I asked about the debit card. The teller said I should've gotten it already, and put in another order, saying I'd get it in a few days. That was weeks ago. Guess I'm not getting my debit card. Now I find out they charge $10/month if your checking account balance is under $1000. Making profit off poor people? That's a no from me homie. I'm closing this account (and I saw they will charge a fee for this too, of course). Take your business elsewhere .

Best rates in the county for home and car loans. Most if not all loans do not have a penalty for paying early or making extra payments on the principle. (double check with when applying for a loan). The staff is friendly and helpful. It is an awesome place to have kids savings accounts- ""Bay Buddies". The rate may be low (as all banks), but they have intensives and contests for kids to encourage them to save money.

Get my checks direct deposit and most the time they aren't available till 9 or 10 am. The transactions don't even come out automatically so you never know if your balance is accurate. They won't help with credit building like most credit unions do either. Not happy with this bank at all they are a lot to be desired.

Atrocious customer service. Unable to actually pay our Auto Bill without my husband going in. I was told I was not allowed to set up an account in my name even though the vehicle is mine and I am on the Lon along with my husband. They will not let us pay them directly online via Bayfed and we thought we had payment all set up via Bill pay through BofA only to find out they didn’t accept the payment! I do not recommend using Bay Fed, absolute headache.

A good bank with friendly helpful staff. They haven't lost my money yet and they seem to give it back each time I ask.

Bay Federal has been my Credit Union since 2010. Every once in a while, I have a request that requires extra care. I have been surprised at how easily these things get done! Recently, Kaila Wiseman went the extra mile for me and I really appreciate it. Thumbs up! Great service!

I saw much lower fees for escrow services; wire transfers, cashiers checks, etc. over private banks. I find settling most issues online satisfying, but will go in for more complex issues. Great service over all, but no one is perfect. Too bad they don't provide mortgages for out-of-area investments.

No social distancing at tellers window; more like 3'; was told customers complained of lack of open tellers; not going back.

Terrible hours and don't help with credit building how can you be a credit union
