Searching for a house around Austin is quite a challenge these days, so allying with a competent, agile lending agent proved very important. James Dowis at Barton Creek Lending was exactly that guy. First, our financial situation is a bit different from the typical paycheck, so he quickly guided us through the steps to get initial approval for a loan, and to set the maximum loan amount suitable for us. Our sales agent started finding houses on which to offer, and James immediately supplied the pre-approval letters needed (we lost three houses to bidding wars.) When we eventually managed to secure a house, he and the Barton Creek staff executed flawlessly to advance the process of securing the loan and completing the closing. They first supplied a timetable listing the steps and the days expected for each step, and then they made that timetable happen. Everything worked flawlessly, and communications were good. Note: we also checked other lenders, but Barton Creek was the most economical, both for the loan rate and the fees. I enjoyed working with James and Barton Creek, so they are highly recommended.
