Bank OZK W Athens St, Winder

Friendly cashiers. Good deal on checking account but not even close to being competative on CDs.

Worst experience I ever had with a bank. I am the POA for my aunt, she legally had POA papers signed and recorded in Barrow County Court house and had been banking for her since 2006 with no problem from a large Atlanta bank, and prior with wonderful relationship with the Peoples Bank of Winder and then Community & Southern, both of which were great; but dealing with the Bank of OZK has been anything but satisfactory. OZK closed her account because I would not sign as attorney in fact, even though my paperwork says POA and checks say POA. They are one in the same and it should have not been an issue, but I followed what my document said. They closed her account without the courtesy of a phone call prior to overnighting a refund check not even a note, just a slip that said non-compliance. I would never recommend this bank to anyone, they were so pathetic, it was laughable. I am having to change her direct deposit and social security deposit to her Atlanta bank, for which we have a POA account. A lot of wasted time and aggravation by their inconsiderate move.

Was told my account was closed due to fraudulent activity told them I never lived in the place where the fraudulent was done well they closed my account never use this bank horrible

Thought I finally found a good bank, was once again proven wrong. Was told that I could put a check into the atm and it would process the same day. Was lied to by a teller. Told them I didn't want to be able to overdraft my card, but was some how negative on my account for $36 even though I had not spent any money. Tired of being lied to time and time again by banks. Put a check in on Friday, was told it will not process until Tuesday? When I went up to the bank they acted like I should have known that, but nowhere on the atm did it say anything about the money being withheld. Another shady bank, no different than the rest.

The lobby was closed due to covid, so I called to verify that I could have a debit card made in the drive thru. While I was waiting in the long line to get to the drive thru, someone from the bank called me back to go ahead and have the card made so it would be ready when I got to the window. Amazing customer service that went above and beyond.
