This place is horrible. I have banked in West Virginia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and now California. This Bank of the West is the most unprofessional and unhelpful bank I’ve ever been to. From the branch manager “Miguel” to Ricardo to the supervisor Jonathan. They closed my account because I work in the cannabis industry. They wouldn’t leave it open for another 1-2 weeks so I could receive my tax return. Even though I’ve been with them almost a decade. They closed the account immediately and didn’t even give me a week to get my finances sorted out. AVOID BANK OF THE WEST AT ALL COSTS! Go to Tech Credit Union, BoA, Chase, anywhere but here. Trust me. This fiasco is such a pain in the neck for undisclosed reasons, for not doing anything illegal.

After being locked out of their mobile banking app all weekend, I manage to get toa computer to sign in. Their webpage errors of if you try to leave the homepage to do anything like log-in or password changing. I called the number on the back of the debit card they issued me; but the customer service line had an automated system tell me it's done for today (10:30am) and hang up on me. I called the branch itself since they are the people who had me get this app and issued my card; but they hung up on me when they picked up the reciever. This company is known for its shady fees and policies. They obviously don't care about contact with the customer. Avoid here even if it may cost you a bit, because you'll still be saving in the long run.

This is the third time I have come to this branch and it is closed or having technical difficulties. Today, the sign said "closed due to an emergency" what is this supposed to mean? This location does not seem to be in good management

AVOID THIS BRANCH. There is a representative here named Miguel O. who has gone out of his way, multiple times, to give me problems. On the very first check I deposited (before direct deposit was initiated) he grilled me for 10 minutes about whether or not the company my check was from was legit. You see, when he googled it, he couldn't find it, so he assumed I was lying. Yes I was offended. Since when is it the teller's job to clear the checks? Then, my wife and I go in to open a joint account for paying bills. I was bummed when we were assigned Miguel again. And with good reason, Miguel actually signed us up for the WRONG ACCOUNT TYPE. The one he DID sign us up for was the more expensive one (Premier), even though he assured us on the way out that it was the cheaper one (Any Deposit). We called the bank to get it corrected, and were told that Miguel said we SELECTED THE WRONG TYPE! To recap, MIGUEL MESSED UP, almost costing his customer more money, THEN BLAMED THE CUSTOMER FOR HIS ERROR. Finally, when on the phone resolving his original issue, Miguel suggested that we hook our current debit cards up to the new account "because it would be easier" but that would have actually made it so we couldn't access our original account. Luckily we caught it and were able to avoid a THIRD MISTAKE BY MIGUEL. Any other branch, or if this branch, any other associate. Unless you want to get your account screwed up and then blamed for it all while being accused of lying about where you work.

Bank of the west is a trusted institution with great CD rates over the years. I have been a customer since 1990, two checking accounts with Gold Lines of credit. I love that I can write a check, for an amount over what I actually have in my account and instead if it bouncing my check, Bank of the West covers the check (purchase) and it's not considered overdrawn; it's automatically drawn out of my Gold Line and line of credit. It used to be $2 transaction fee but I think now it's $6, least time I checked. Then I pay interest on the amount. It has been a LIFE SAVER for me. Thank you Bank of the West. Another perk,is that they have several drive through branches SJ Ca. They've been closing the drive-throughs which is difficult when you're disabled. Please don't close them!!!
