Bank of the West H St, Modesto

Love this bank it let's you withdraw all your money at one time .

The staff is friendly, but they are very negligent. A while back i had to cancel my account because someone had gotten my bank information, and had "deposited" fake money into my account. I immediately froze my account and went in, despite no longer living in Modesto. Took care of the account, and closed it. Fast forward a few days abs i get a letter about owing them money for "depositing a check with their app". This was the fake money, they charged me for something i had not done. So, i called the bank, told them the situation AGAIN, and after a too long phone call, they told me they would have to reopen my account to get the money back, because apparently they couldn't just give me a check. So, i agreed, and they told me that they would call me so i can go in to pick up the money. I never got a call and then i started an overnight job so i couldn't even call them or go to meet them due to my schedule. Fast forward to today, still no call and then i suddenly get a letter in the mail saying that i owe them an overdraft fee. Why? Because they activated my account, never called, and the bank just kept charging a maintenance fee for the account existing, unused. They are nice, but this kind of negligence on their end is unacceptable and i will never bank with them again.

Has a sign saying hours will change effective March 20, 2021 to 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Today, this review was given was March 17, 2021, shortly after 9:00 am and they are closed. Not following the posted sign of business hours.

Near freeway as visiting central CA area and only walk up. No drive up atm or would give five stars.

I've had a fair experience banking here although I wasn't one of their account customers!

There are ten people in line and one teller window open. Asked if they were going to open another window and they said no. It's one thing if they just got rushed out of nowhere and were not prepared but it is absolutely always understaffed when I have to come into a physical location. I never get out in less than half an hour. If I'm lucky.

For the past several months since they closed the lobby and They only have the drive-thru in use for services. The banking system is poor The wait time is extremely long & poorly served. It is BS that we have to wait in this long line to cash our checked for people who are disabled and do not have a vehicle, thanks to my friend who lends me her vehicle just to come and cash my check, since Bank Of The West Chooses to close the lobby.. And i’m an able to use the ATM to cash my check due to the process delayed 3 to 5 days..

Have a question at the counter go talk to simsome else is what I was told. Wow. Update: this branch does not give tellers the option to assist customers as other branches do. Or are advised against it. Either way per Branch Manager teller has No Way of being able to see accounts as other branch tellers do. Another branch I go to I must take care of everything at the teller window which slows down the line. This branch has already trained it's customers to either look it up online OR go ask someone else. Which explains why it never has customers in it.

Staff is friendly and helpful to the full extent. As soon as you walk through the entrance, you are greeted with a warm welcome.
