I want to thank the Bank of the James for assisting my wife and I with our recent home purchase. We are excited beyond measure that we found our forever home. The entire purchasing process was smooth and everything was explained to us every step of the way. Also, we want to especially thank Heather Nipper for her professional and caring demeanor throughout the entire process. She was not just a numbers person, but made sure that we understood each step in the purchase and buying process, so that we were well prepared and well informed along the way. She gave a personal touch by contacting us periodically to encourage us that we would find out forever home despite a very unpredictable housing market. We are thankful that we had someone like Heather in our corner as we searched many hours for our new home. It made all the difference to be able to communicate with your loan officer to receive encouragement or to ask for clarification regarding loan process questions. I am very thankful for Jennifer Holdaway. Buying a first home is incredibly stressful, and for someone without a financial background securing a mortgage is the most confusing part. Jennifer was able to help me understand all the rates, acronyms, and information needed to make the right decision. The most important thing I wanted was someone I could trust. Jennifer went out of her way to ensure I got the best available loan at the lowest possible rate. She was there for me every step of the way. Heather Nipper has always been wonderful to us. We bought our house with her help, and then were able to refinance with her 2 years later. It was an absolute pleasure working with Heather Nipper the VP/Mortgage Loan Officer. Of all the properties I have purchase over the years this was the hands down easiest process ever. Heather is a master communicator; we ALWAYS knew where we were at and what was expected and when it would happen. All loans have their little bumps and we had one and Heather just killed it – no issue at all. My experience with Heather Nipper was excellent, I highly recommend her! She was always very friendly, in a great mood, had a positive attitude even when a couple of challenges popped up at the end our our closing process that I know were stressful for her. Her communication was top notch - she provided weekly updates at a minimum via video messaging but was in touch any time something was happening, she didn’t let anything sit around and notified me of exactly what was happening and what to expect at all times. i felt very comfortable she was handling everything well and I didn’t need to worry. She was patient while we looked at lots of different option for loan terms and rates. Knowledgeable, patient, communicative and friendly are quite the dynamic combo!

Where to even begin! Let me start off by saying that our Loan Officer Heather Nipper is hands down and by far truly the best in her field! This was our second time working with Heather and this experience was impeccable as well. Our move was a bit more intense as we relocated from Virginia to Florida. Heather gracefully guided us through the process and taught us so much along the way. There were several moving pieces to this move, as Florida has different guidelines than Virginia. Heather left no stone unturned and truly had our best interests at heart. She truly defines how communication should be and will cheer you on and make you feel like family along the way. If this review had 100 stars, she would receive 200 stars! If the time comes where we need to move again, although hopefully this is it for us, Heather will always be our "go to." I do not know exactly where to start with this review so work with me as I try to illustrate how great our experience was using Bank of the James. Buying a home 600 miles away during a Pandemic we knew at the beginning would be tough. Houses flying off the market day by day. Also, the tough process of viewing homes virtually took a lot of time and changed the overall experience. One thing we didn't have concerns with was Bank of James Mortgage and Heather Nipper. We had intentions of keeping our buying power local and Heather went above and beyond to support us although she was also 600 miles away. I highly recommend using Heather to anyone looking to buy a home. Rates were amazing, approval process was easy and literally everything was handled digitally, which my wife and I loved. We put in offers on several homes and Heather was always there updating our approval amount within hours. Buying a home can be stressful but all this was avoided for the most part locking in financing!! 3 things stood out the most- 1) Honesty 2) Responsiveness 3) Caring. All strong values that are tough to get in today’s fast-moving world. We are packing our bags and heading to sunny Florida soon :) Trey
