COVID hit my business hard, usually in waves since I’m in a field that requires close contact for long periods of time. So cases go up and business goes down. It’s just been how it goes. Recently I’ve been sent to collections for a late CC payment. It happens, no big deal. Bonnie in collections is INCREDIBLY RUDE. When I told her I was looking for a supplemental job she replied “Well where are you looking? You’re not looking hard enough because there are thousands out there” She then proceeds to tell me to take out a cash advance on another card to pay my bill on the ATFCU one. Then I asked her if they are part of the Credit Union Alliance that waives ATM fees for other credit unions. She proceeded to CUT ME OFF and say “No, no! You’re not going to an ATM you’re going to do the cash advance directly at the bank!” Ummm EXCUSE ME!? First don’t cut me off. Second don’t tell me what I’m going to do. JFC. I’ve been a member here for 16 years and I have never been treated with disrespect like this. I’m appalled.

I have been a member of Austin Telco FCU since 1993. ALL my family auto loans are always from ATFCU. They are professional, loan paperwork is also easy even i went to Dallas and purchased my auto in 2019. I would like to say a BiG "THANK YOU" to ms. Liz Shearon (branch mgr) of solving issue quick and really professional. Because of the great services i received and i have referring friends, family members (even from of the Austin area), co-workers that new to austin to do business with ATFCU. Thank you ATFCU and ms. Liz for serving your members well.

I have been a member of Austin Telco for close to 10 years, and just recently decided to look into getting my vehicle refinanced for a lower interest rate. I wish the first person i spoke to could have told me more about the stipulations they had on their vehicle loans. Now i have a hit on my credit and didn't get anywhere with the loan. Since i owe 4k more than what the vehicle is worth. Aside from the fact i have never missed a payment on any vehicle i have owned. The only thing they could say was "sorry", and i agree in regards to the institution. I will be moving my money and business else where.

Both my wife and I's experience with financing vehicles through this credit union has been a debacle every time. I'm not sure if the issues are incompetence, a lack of training, or poor internal communication, but rest assured you will jump through hoops and still get hit with strange fees and procedures that make no sense. Most recently this was paying extra registration fees for Austin Telco's own botched paperwork a month after my purchase. As a professional lender I don't understand how you can screw up vehicle registration. As much as I would like to fight them on why I shouldn't have to pay for their incompetence I think my best route is to simply not use them again after repaying the current loans (or possibly transfer my loan to someone else) and let everyone know about my experience. The 2 star review (instead of 1) is because there is the occasional competent and friendly employee there wanting to help and the rates are good - but there are too many other problems and too much competition (with more convenience and competence) to take this credit union seriously as an option for my financial needs in the future.

I like this credit union. I've been using them for nearly 2 decades, finance all my cars there. This is a pretty good credit union with great loan rates. I've typically found the staff to be friendly although a little inexperienced at times (they expanded quickly, lots of new hires). Phone support is something you'll need to be ready for some serious time spent on hold though. The downside is their ability to handle customers that travel outside the Austin area. I travel a lot and if there is a problem with my account (a fraud alert, Target-like security issue, etc) then it cannot be handled. You always seem to have to go into a branch office personally to handle everything. If I'm in town, it's only a inconvenience. If I'm not, it's full stop, no help at all, no alternative. You're stranded. I've been stuck in another country with no access to my account until I get back to Austin a week or more later. It can be a real hassle. If you're local and rarely get more than 30 miles from Austin, this is a great place to do your banking. I really need to switch to another bank that can handle my travel requirements but having loans and online payment services and auto deposit make it kind of painful to switch too so I'm right on the edge of what's less convenient.

I have been a member since 1988 and I also have a business account as well. They go above and beyond for all my banking needs.

I have been with Austin Telco for over 20 years. I’ve financed several cars through them and every time I’ve had exceptional service. I don’t have a credit card through them and don’t use the debit card much, but my family members have traveled overseas and as long as you give them a heads up things are ok. I consider this oversight a plus, not a negative.

Seriously outdated platform and practices, it's like they want to make you work harder to engage with them. They have more internal process related roadblocks than a construction area and you get to participate for however many weeks it takes for you to resolve the mistakes they make. Don't even think about the option of a suite of online services, that would be too much.

I am closing my account with this bank. I became homeless and no longer have a physical address to receive mail. They have been charging me $10 Everytime mail cannot be sent and refuse to remove the charges. They insist their policy is you must have a physical address. Theft from the poor and homeless. Pathetic. Do not open an an account with this bank, they act friendly at first but they are just as bad as the big banks like Wells Fargo.

Ashley in the loan department came through when we needed her most! We were preapproved for a loan but you cannot sign documents in the branch. We were scheduled to pick up the car today and Ashley put together the docs, sent them to me via Docusign and was in constant communication the whole time. She went well above and beyond to communicate with the dealership and take care of us. This is why I have all of my loans through ATFCU! Keep up the great work.
