I have been a member for 33 years, first as Continental Fed Credit Union in Los Angeles, then as Alliant Credit Union, when the credit unions were merged. I have had nothing but great experiences with Alliant. They have great products, they provide interest rates among the best in the industry, and they perform reliable and efficient transactions. Direct deposits of paychecks and any other deposits have always been accurate and on time. The website is well constructed with easy navigation. Closing branches is simply in tune with today’s changing banking enviroment, as most things are done online nowadays.

We have checking, savings and credit card accounts with Alliant. We've been very happy with this company. We've banked at a large number of different banks and credit unions and these guys are the best of the best. Their customer service is great, their bank policies are also great. Their web site is well-designed and is user friendly. We applied for a Visa card and were approved in minutes. They even have no fees for overdrafts, which has not been an issue for us personally, but it is a nice feature. Highly recommended.

Good credit card rewards, but everything else about this credit union is very annoying. First, it always takes a very long time on hold if you need to call in - 30+ minutes minimum, ridiculously higher than most other banks/CUs and it always gives you useless info that you didn't ask for before you can even enter the phone hold queue. And recently I waited for 45 minutes only for the rep to say they can't help, transferred me to "Card Services" and then they say they can't help because they're not Alliant, they're a third party. So an hour of time literally wasted. Even Comcast has better customer service. Second - their interface on both desktop and mobile are abysmal and have not improved much if at all in the nearly 2 years I've been with Alliant. So many standard features of other banks/CUs just flat out aren't available, the app often shows incorrect balances and takes forever to update, you can't redeem rewards on the app - you have to go to some weird third party site and "order" a cashback redemption option, which also takes a long time to actually receive. The list goes on. Third - When there was fraudulent activity on my credit card, they took FOREVER to get the new card out to me - and locked me out of online access as well! I couldn't even login and make a payment. It's a good thing I had already made my payment or that could have hurt my credit over an issue with their awful system. Just an all around bad experience. I highly recommend you avoid Alliant.

Only issue I've ever had was attaching my account to a Crypto exchange aside from that they were fantastic great customer service refunds on ATM withdrawals even when I left the country no sneaky fees like chase and some other banks. No issues if I ever overdrawn on my account excellent fraud protection not sure why some people complain I've been happy since I left chase and chose Alliant years ago

Worst experience with a bank ever! I can not believe Lexus works with them as a lender. I will go out of my to make sure I never work with this terrible bank account. They have ripped me off too many times!

Have been a member for 20 plus years. This institution has gone bonkers since the pandemic. Have recently acquired an excess of money after my mother’s passing and was told to send the checks via USPS. Yes USPS! No customer service, no branch to physically hand the checks over. Whatever genius thought to close all the branches and then put a $50,000 limit on deposits should be fired. Maybe the people responding to all the bad reviews should be behind an actual counter taking care of the customers. Then the bad reviews would lessen.

I opened a credit card account & savings in 2018. Received a nice credit line, and the rate was even better. I recently needed a personal loan($23k) to payoff a few high interest cards, but my primary credit union (where I have been banking for years, and has branches were I live in NY) gave me a horrible rate. I applied at Alliant, and they gave me a great rate, I supplied the normal income verification things, nothing out of the ordinary required for a personal, unsecured loan....and 3 days later, I had a check from Fed-Ex to me. I had communication with the loan person 1:1 throughout the entire process. I need a bank with branches where I live, that's the only reason I don't use them as my primary banking....come to NY!

Alliant Credit Union, offers excellent customer support. The website.. that's other question. I tried Sunday from Denver, Colorado to complete a transaction that never happened. I tried again this Monday morning 5am.. again it timed out. So after work I called, about the transaction timing out. So I give Alliant 2 1/2 stars. This is ridiculous.. Hey Alliant get better load balancing software and quit the inconvenience to your customer base.

Watch out graduate students. If you are receiving income other than W2 income, they will not approve you for a car loan regardless of how many bank statements you provide. However, I understand that rules are rules. The reason why I'm leaving a review was because I was completely taken aback by how rude my leasing consultant was. Luckily closing my account didn't take much time at all.

This is without a doubt the worst user interface I have ever experienced. Our mortgage was sold to them 3 months ago and it took 6 different employees, all of which SAID our auto-pay was set up, to actually get it set up correctly. More than 3 hours of call time, including a 30 minute call, where I waited for 20 minutes because I was asked my mothers maiden name. To which I asked “are you asking for mine or my wife’s since she set up the account? I said my wife’s, and because I got it wrong the first time I couldn’t try again. I then had to wait 20 minutes for a manager to come on to verify me. If you have any choice about where your loan is… STAY AWAY. Auto pay is next to impossible with them, and you will wait forever to get someone to answer anything. And then when they do, and they sound like they know what they are talking about, they won’t. I had 5 different people tell me auto pay was set up before it finally was. It’s like they WANT you to default on your mortgage so they can take your house. I have accounts with 11 other financial institutions and never have I experienced a user experience as bad as this one.

Unfortunate that I have to walk away after 15+ years of loyal membership because they do not care for their members at all. Stay far away, don't give them multiple chances like I did. The credit you work so hard to build will suffer for their mistakes and they won't bat an eye to fix it. Update to their response: Viewing my credit report, that you messed with in their first place, doesn't help anything. You have actively chosen not to work with me dispite me being understanding and felxible... and then you lie in the process? STAY AWAY from these people. The credit union mission is people helping people but unless you're giving them your loan dollars you're just a number. Might as well be a bank.

Customer service is non-existent. Their disputes department is literally one guy, Paul, who doesn’t check his email, and I imagine there must only be one person answering phones in the card services department because I’ve been on hold for 45 minutes and there’s still no indication my call will ever be answered. There’s a revolving door on their executive office. Their “transition to digital banking” has been totally botched, and none of the social media people here care to do anything. They’ll cut and paste their usual bland “thanks for your feedback” note and move about their day until the credit union collapses. None of their employees care about doing good work.

Avoid this bank if you want good customer service, honest management, and modern banking. Want to switch which external bank account you pay your mortgage from? You'll need to get in touch with the mortgage department, which is near impossible during business hours, and fill out a PAPER form which you need to FAX in and hope they get to it within a week. If your autopay is missed in that switchover time that's their fault, you'll get a late fee. Customer service might tell you it will be refunded and escalated, like they did with me several times, but that's not going to happen. I wish I knew this before I took out an auto loan with them too. Getting someone on the phone for simple things is a chore and they always drop the ball. I've called EIGHT times to follow up on the fees they said would be reversed with no luck. They make promises and then disappear. I sold my house and got charged a late fee even though I told them ahead of time that the mortgage was getting paid off that month and was ~assured~ that I would not be charged a fee.
