I recently had a not great experience with this company. I was promised way too many things and it seemed like every time those promises kept fading away. I was told things were gonna happen and they never did. The under delivery was absurd and am honestly pretty frustrated. Luke Harding promised me a lot and was not able to perform. I can talk on behalf of some of my coworkers who tried to give him some business and seems like they had similar experiences. Hoping this improves in the future.

We were first time home buyers and had a horrible experience with a lender that we worked with for months. We were referred to Luke Harding and academy mortgage and the experience was completely different. They went above and beyond to help us and walked us through step by step. Even when I asked dumb questions repeatedly. We went to academy mortgage on April 29th. We closed on our home June 13th. After 5 months with the previous lender… they never even asked for the address of the home we were buying. Just said the down payment assistance programs are suspended and you need 22k down. And went on their way. We were devastated. We got a second opinion and we opened escrow 2 weeks after getting in touch with Luke and Academy Mortgage.

I have now done 2 loans and a modification with Jon and his team and the experience has been wonderful each time. They are always available to answer questions and they get things done faster than anyone else in the business. In my most recent transaction Jon and his team were ready to fund my loan a week before my buyers lender even got their loan out of underwriting. My buyers lender delayed the loan because of their inefficiency but Jon's team stayed ready to fund and closed my loan in less than an hour after the other lender finally got theirs closed. They helped make sure my 4 year old was sleeping in his own bed on moving day instead of sleeping in the truck. Being able to deliver on that promise to my son meant a lot to me and they cared enough to make sure it happened. Jon Crawford and his team are simply the best.

Chris Martin is the best Loan Officer! He professionally managed everything from top to bottom, for our home purchase and loan details. Many times our realtor needed answers to questions and Chris was fast to reply, with all the answers. I even called him on a Sunday night and he answered his phone! Very reliable and I always felt informed. He saved us thousands of dollars by completing our loan super fast, which qualified us to meet the seller's requirement for a monetary bonus for our loan closing early. Highly recommend him and this company. I refer anyone and everyone I can to him.

We were blessed to do business with Marcus Watson and Academy Mortgage when we first bought our house in 2014. After getting an offer in the mail for a cash out refinance with a totally different company, we contacted him again. I would much rather do business with someone I know and trust, than a third party out for their own bottom line. We knew that Marcus and Academy Mortgage would look out for our best interests throughout the process no matter what. He was very straight with us and we did have a few homework assignments. We started the process in early October and were not in any kind of rush at all. Our loan closed on November 28th and we had all our debt paid off by December 1st. It is an amazing feeling to pay off any bill, but to work with people that you know and trust to get to that point makes it even sweeter! I had been declined by another mortgage company but, they had referred me to Steve Alonso because he specialized in "tough cases". I found out just how tough my case was, but I was very well informed during the whole process by Steve. He made sure that he answered every message and call that I gave him, was very patient with me, and kept me in the loop on every step. I had previously shopped at several other lenders, most of which turned me down immediately or gave me the "stink eye" as a 1st time home buyer trying to qualify for a high-balance loan. The rest simply couldn't find a way to approve me for the house I wanted. Academy Mortgage, however, worked through all the tough processes, articulating through intricate qualifications for my particular case from Fannie and Freddy, and were able to close my loan where others dared not and could not. We had looked in to purchasing a home with another bank and they told us we had to wait about a year. I called him and he gave us a straight up answer on what could be done.Chris Martin has helped us complete two loans a first time buyer home loan which closed in less than a month. UNBELIEVABLE is all that I can say about loan officer Josh Nastal, his processor Jessica (I believe that is her name) and Academy Mortgage as a whole. I had a quasi-difficult scenario and Josh made it utterly painless to go through the entire process. I was a self-employed to W2 convert and had claimed mileage on both so other lenders were claiming I was ineligible and had to wait until the new year to be able to purchase a home. I was distraught.....until Josh came along and saved the day/month/year!!! In addition, it was a VA Loan, which from past experience usually takes 45-60 days to complete. This is NO exaggeration when I tell you this, but Josh literally only took 2 weeks to close my loan.....I know....Unbelievable right? Serious business....2 weeks. He quoted me 30 days, but when he called me and asked if I could close at the end of the month, I was absolutely floored. Very exciting times to be able to move in EARLY if you've gone through a home loan process before, you'll understand what I mean. I have already recommended Josh to everyone I know and would do so in a heartbeat again and again. To make it even better, the original contract was already in place and loan process in full swing, when I got the bad news about the home inspection and the house needed thousands of dollars in repairs, I was able to opt out of my contract, find a new house and still close by the end of the month. Absolutely in awe of Josh's professionalism and willingness to get the loan closed and early to boot. Thank you so much Josh, you've made me a very happy person!!!!

I am absolutely disgusted with this company. We did what was asked of us to get our credit where it was needed and where lied to and treated horribly. My husband is a disabled combat veteran and we have 7 young children. We wanted to pay off more but was told not to. We where guaranteed the loan by the banker we where working with. And I mean, we asked numerous times. Is there a chance we could not get the loan. We where told no, he had the loan approved just had to wait for the appraisal. Appraisal came back great and by now he told us we could pack and to even leave enough stuff out to live the next month until we close. Mind you, because of this we forfeited our home we have been renting for the last 4 years and we can't reverse it because there's new tenants moving in. Come the last week and a half, our Banker leaves town and starts telling us there where problems. We didn't understand because we where guaranteed from what we where told. Anyways, another guy is put in charge and he was awful. Me and our realtor where ignored for days, emails, texts, calls even calling someone else in the office that found it odd because he was there all day. Then on the last day, mind you, this is now the day we where suppose to close, he refuses to answer my call but immediately sends an email after, saying sorry, we couldn't make it happen. Doesn't even have the respect to answer my call and tell us or call and tell us. With no explanation, just crushed our family and the family of the home that was depending on this sell to happen, so they could get their new home. Come to find out, the issue was exactly what we offered to fix months prior and where told not to. Also, a simple fix and guidance. Someone that has been apparently doing this for 20 years should know better. Now my family is left without a home and we are horrified. We thought buying a home was a dream and it turned into a nightmare. I would not recommend this lender to anyone. They should have to fix this. I am.mroe upset that me and my large family are without a home. :(

Deb and her team are amazing at what they do, they explain things throughly, u can get ahold of them at anytime, they make u feel like family and they treat u like family. I worked with Scott Smith and his team. I had a wonderful experience and Scott was very knowledgeable. Working with Scott, he was able to give me the pros and cons of the different options available and I eventually went with a VA Loan. He was very responsive, even on the day of signing that I had a couple of questions 2 hours before my appointment time and I was able to leave a message for him and he returned my call in 15 minutes (he usually answered any calls without leaving a message) and I felt comfortable with all of his answers. We worked with the Michael Lara group in Chandler, AZ. My husband and I are in our late 60's, and have purchased numerous properties over the years, so we know how the process is supposed to go. This was not only the worst experience in applying for a mortgage, but the worst experience of my entire life. They gave our application away before we were done with it to some high risk mortgage company. We both have ALWAYS had excellent credit and have never been late with any payments during our 49 years of marriage. They wanted us to sign statements that weren't true or incorrect. When I told them that I was not comfortable signing things that weren't true, I was told to sign anyway just to get the loan closed. They even wanted us to write a letter saying why we wanted to move to Arizona. They left me feeling like I was a criminal. We are done with them and went elsewhere.

The entire lending process was a breeze with the help of John Zurbruegg at Academy Mortgage! He and Gloria helped me track down all my needed paperwork, kept me in the communication loop and truly made a stressful buying experience pleasant. Thank you guys!
